Relative Maturity = 102 Day
The 2025 standout variety in grain plots. It was consistently in the top everywhere it was tested. It's a long white cob with big kernals and a small cob. Higher ear placement (6-7') than ideal but seems to have the stalk strength to suppport it. Plants are mid-tall at hit 12-14' in the Columbia Basin.
Relative Maturity = 105 Day
A silage variety for the those looking for tonnage and quality. Bred for superior silage performance, this extra tall variety feeds exceptionally well. Do not place this variety under a weak/old pivot. This varieties 15-16' height can give you a bad summer keeping the water going. Exceptional stalk strength that you can feel when you walk into the field. Don't be afraid of taking this to earlage or even drygrain.
Relative Maturity = 106 Day
2025 Grain plot winner for conventional or organic production. Excellent early season vigor with standout uniformity sets this hybrid apart. The short fat ears give an excellent production of grain in very sandly soil. Sadly I've been informed 2026 will be its last year. The midwest likes a new RC5655 that I'll be testing this next year.
Relative Maturity = 100 day
This unassuming hybrid doesn't look like anything special. It has an average plant height of 10'-12'. Average smaller looking ears that are set at a comfortable 5' height. Decent stalk strength and excellent uniformity. It was one of the top yielders with the highest test weight in the plots in 2025. Those small ears pack a lot of heavy kernals.
Low Lignin and RR alfalfa
The first generation of HarvXtra varieties were not that great. Add in some high levels of dormant seed and lower than average overall germination and many growers had a flop with their first experience. Ameristand 482 HVXRR is the 3rd generation from the initial release. They have resolved the issues and the new varieties are reliable, productive, with high quality seed. I special order in lower coating to save the grower money per acre. If all your hay goes into feeding your own animals, it's worth the few extra dollars to buy HarvXtra now.
